Highlights
Today we logged into the computers and tried the Dreambox math program.  A link for Dreambox can be found on the Panorama Hills School homepage.  A note was also sent home with information on the program, along with your child’s username and password.

In Social Studies we read the story, “The Town Mouse and Country Mouse” and discussed advantages and disadvantages of living in these two places.  During Math we are starting to apply our skip counting skills to help us count money amounts up to $1.00.  We are currently working on counting pennies, nickels and dimes.  Students are also working on writing their own stories based on the book, “Pete the Cat: I Love My New Shoes.”

Photos for School Remembrance Day Assembly
As part of our Remembrance Day assembly we are asking for photographs of family members, past or present, who have served in any military branch.  We are requesting a photograph to be scanned and emailed to Mrs. Boutillier (miboutillier@cbe.ab.ca). If you cannot scan the photograph please feel free to send it to school and we will scan it and return it to you. Please include their name, when they served, and any other information you would like to include.

Please send photos by November 3, 2016.

PHS Used Book Sale
We are having a Used Book Drive and Sale.  Kindly save us your gently used books (no adult books please). Books can be brought in October 11 to November 25.  The Book Sale will happen during Parent Teacher Conferences December 1 and 2.  All books will be reasonably priced. Thank you in advance for your support!

Homework
-Each night, please have your child record the date and one book they read on the home reading log.  (If the book is longer, just write the chapter read, or the number of pages).  Your child may read a book on Raz-Kids, one of the paper books sent home, a library book or magazine, etc.  The important aspect is that your child reads a “just right” book, where they are able to read the majority of words and discuss what happened in the book.  Reading logs will be collected at the end of Nov. and will be reviewed at parent-teacher conferences.

-Spelling quiz tomorrow on this week’s words

-Try the Dreambox math program at home
