Highlights

Mrs. Diduch’s class:  Pumpkin Math! Today we opened pumpkins up, removed al the seeds, and worked on counting the seeds. We learned about counting by 1s, 2s, 5, and 10s. After much hard work we found that grouping the seeds into piles of 10 and then counting by 10 was the fastest way to figure out how many we had. We measured how many pumpkins tall we are, compared the small, medium and large size pumpkins, and compared the weight of pumpkins to other items. TONS of math learning was done!

Ms. Bain’s class:  We read the story, “How Many Seeds are in a Pumpkin” by Margaret McNamara and counted pumpkin seeds by 10.  We completed writing about “Orange and Black” day.

Reminders

-Field trip forms sent home for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.  Please sign and return.  (Our music teacher has contacted the parents who offered to volunteer earlier in the year.  Forms will be sent home for them to sign.  Unfortunately we don’t have any more spaces for additional volunteers at this time.)

No school tomorrow for students!

We reviewed all the multi-letter graphemes today. This will be sent home soon so that parents can keep helping their child learn the ones that have not been mastered. Graphemes 54-70 will start after spelling begins.

Homework
Keep reviewing the multi-letter graphemes! This is an important piece to learning to read and write. Parents can be saying the sounds while your child writes the grapheme they hear.

Read, Read, Read!
