Highlights

Welcome back!  We have a fabulous group of Grade 2 students this year!

We had a busy day!  We listened to 3 stories, wrote about us and our summer, went on a school tour, read books, made patterns in math, played name bingo, talked about rules, went outside, and met students from other classes.

Important information:
This year all teachers at Panorama will be posting updates on their blogs on Monday ( or Tuesday, if Monday is a holiday) and Thursday.

We will have a nutrition break every morning.  Please send a healthy snack with your child (fruit, vegetables, cheese, crackers, yogurt, rice, wraps, etc.)

Please send a water bottle with your child each day.  This helps minimize disruptions from students leaving the classroom to get a drink.

Reminder:  Fridays are early out.  Students are dismissed at 1:45 pm that day.

It is also a great idea to label students’ jackets, sweaters and shoes with their name.  This makes it easy to match lost items with their owner and prevents mix-ups when 2 students have the same item.  Students will need a pair of indoor and outdoor shoes.

Homework
-Have a good sleep tonight!

-We will not have any official homework the first week of school while students get back into routine.  Of course, we always recommend reading to your child, and having your child read to you :)

Ask me about:
In the story "First Day Jitters" by Julie Dannebery, who was nervous about the first day of school?  (The teacher!)

What is the pattern core?  (The part of the pattern that repeats)

What does the word repeat mean?  (Goes over and over)
