Highlights
In Science, we talked about different kinds of
liquids. Students then experimented
using an eye dropper, wax paper and water to see what they could discover.
In Math we are starting to work on strategies
to help us add numbers quickly. So far
we have talked about:
-Add 1 or 2 to a number. Start at the larger number and count 1 or 2
more. For example, 2+9= You start
at 9 and count 2 more (10, 11)
-Adding zero to a number (the number doesn’t
change) 6+0=6
-Turn around facts. If I know 8+2=10, then 2+8=10

Ask me about:
Is the answer to
2+7 the same as 7+2? Why?
What shape was
the water drop on the wax paper? What
happens if you keep adding drops to the same spot? What happens when two drops are placed very
close together? Did anything surprise
you?
